Super Sister Sundays!

Super Sister Sundays!

I love my little sister. While we are sisters by birth, we are friends by choice. I had always hoped that since we are nearly 10 years apart that by the time she neared 20 years old that a lot of the petty sibling rivalry would go away and it has! We have become extremely close throughout the last couple years as we have had to go through (and are still going through) some very difficult and trying times.

We have made it a priority to have dedicated sister time almost every week. This week we had a “Super Sister Sunday” as we call it. We spent the day watch tv and movies, talking, laughing, and just spending time together. It is most definitely our favorite time(s) of the week! I would do just about anything for her. And I know she really does try to do everything she can to help me out. Ever since she was born, I have taken care of and looked out for her any way I can. She is one of the most important people in my life! Even though I didn’t particularly want a sibling when I was little, I am so very grateful to have her in my life. I know it is a bit cliché, but I truly do not know what I would do without my (not so little) sister. Now that she has been driving for about 10 months, she helps me out by picking up items that I need or want from the store and by taking me to (local) doctors appointments as I am currently not well enough to drive, so this is an amazingly huge help! A few months ago, when we were having sister times and goofing around, she meant to say, “sister” but it instead came out as “sisser”, so that now has become a pet name for one another.

We also make it a point to tell each other just how much we love and care about one another. We have even ‘created’ a back & forth dialogue between each other that goes like this: (it doesn’t matter who starts)
sister A: “I love you sissy!”
sister B: “I love you more!”
sister A: “I love most!”
sister B: “I love you to infinity and beyond!”
and often times we’ll add, “Nuh-uhh” to our replies as if it isn’t possible to love each other even more.

Not that anything really ‘good’ has come out of me being so ill, but I have to say that through it all, my obnoxiously, wonderfully, annoyingly, playful little sister and I have become extremely close. We’re not just sisters, but best friends too. And you can bet, that even though I’m in the hospital, we’ll still be having Super Sister Sunday!

I love you sisser!
