IpsyOS Events Part 1: Intro & Dermalogica

IpsyOS Events Part 1: Intro & Dermalogica
image
Did you know that Michelle Phan (co-founder of the uber popular subscription service Ipsy which has well over 1.5 million monthly subscribers) opened up her dream studio for up and coming beauty content creators last year? And that those creators could use that space for free?!?

No, you hadn’t?

Well, guess what?!?

I applied to and was excepted into IpsyOS

When I opened that email and saw that it said, “Hello Beautiful, Congrats” I seriously full on squealed!! (you know, like out loud) I was amazed that they thought my little piece of the internet was worthy.

And since I was accepted I have had the honor of attending 3 #ThirstyThursday events, 1 #WorkoutWednesday event, 1 #Cocktail Party for GenBeauty LA, and was given a complimentary #BeautyGuru #VIP pass for #GenBeauty LA!!

So just after a month after I was accepted into IpsyOS I attended my first event AT IpsyOS in Santa Moncia! This event was sponsored by Dermalogica and featured their new #CharcoaltotheRescue Charcoal Masque.
image
We were able to learn about how to use the other featured products and how often to use each based on our individual skin types. There was wonderful catered food and plenty of champagne, well the event IS called a #ThirstyThursday! [SIDE NOTE: Because I strongly believe in safe driving, I. Will. Never. Drink. One, Sip. Of. Alcohol. When. Driving. NOT EVER!]
image
Dermalogica also had the incredibly talented @persianpainter at the event to create gorgeous charcoal drawings of us. I still need to get a frame so I can better display this near my vanity. I cannot remember ever having a portrait/caricature drawn of me where the artist spent that amount of detail!

Towards the end of the event we were each given a generous goodie bag that contained ALL of the products that were being featured! Included in each attendee bag from Dermalogica was their Pre-Cleanse, Special Cleansing Gel, Charcoal Rescue Masque, Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque, Skin Hydrating Masque and the cutest grey headband perfect for keeping my hair out of my face while washing my face for applying makeup!
image
I am so appreciative to Dermalogica for putting on such a fun evening. I was a bit nervous with this being my first event, but the majority of attendees and all of the IpsyOS and Dermalogica staff that I met were amazing!

Have you used Dermalogica? If so, what is your favorite product? And if not, what product would you want to try most?

All the best,
~Jaclyn~

Product Review: Protégé A+ctive Serum

Product Review: Protégé A+ctive Serum

I have recently had the pleasure of trying Protégé A+ctive Serum. I’ve tried quite a few Vitamin C with Hyaluronic acid serums of late, but this Vitamin A with Sea Kelp, Collagen, and Hyaluronic acid is new to me.

I like the mess free push pump dispenser and that it came packaged in a felt bag. The only discernable scent was a slightly salty one which makes sense since Sea Kelp is the first ingredient. I’m not sure whether a Vitamin C or A serum is superior. I like that there isn’t a medicinal smell that many of the Vitamin C serums have had.

I’ve been using this for a couple weeks now and like how it feels on my skin. I had been out of town for 6 weeks (more on that soon). I realize any skincare routine or serum can take many weeks or months to have the best effect.

If you are interested in purchasing you can do so on Amazon (by clicking HERE).

Hi Lovelies!
Just in case you haven’t noticed, I’ve been doing a LOT of Vitamin C Serum reviews of late. For some reason since I joined Tomoson (an awesome site that connects brands with bloggers), I’ve been invited to participate in quite a few campaigns focused on Vitamin C Serums. This time I had the chance to try out Day by Day Vitamin C Serum. I’ve got to say that the name alone reminds me of music from Hair. (Click HERE to find on Amazon).

image
Vitamin C Serums are a great way to prep the skin for moisturizer as all of the serums I’ve tried contain Hyaluronic acid, which is able to swell and hold a LOT of water, which is great for (dry) skin.
image
I always have chronically dry skin which can make even the lightest foundation look cakey if I’m not careful. But since I started using Vitamin C Serums a couple months ago, my skin has been a LOT less flaky than it was.
image
There is no strong fragrance to this serum and just has a slight medicinal scent which is likely from the Witch Hazel that it contains. I hate strong fragrances and appreciate a more natural smelling skincare.

I leave on a month and a half trip tomorrow! Still have some packing to do and arrangements to make. I hope to do some posting while I’m gone. So if you do send me an email please allow me a bit more time to read and respond.

Product Review: Hyaluronic Acid Serum by InstaNatural

Product Review: Hyaluronic Acid Serum by InstaNatural

Hi Lovelies!

Recently, I had the opportunity to try InstaNatural’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum (plus Vitamins C, E, and Green Tea) [click HERE to find on Amazon]. Now I know I’ve written several posts reviewing Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid serums, so what makes this one different? Well for starters this one is has more of a gel consistency versus a liquid plus the bottle is significantly larger (about twice the size) than any of the others I’ve tried before.

Since this one is a gel, having a dropper wouldn’t work quite to well as it does with a liquid, so this one has push pump dispenser. This clear gel doesn’t have any fragrance added and has a very light medicinal scent. I think the medicinal scent is from the Witch Hazel which is the third ingredient which indicates a higher percentage as compared to the rest of the ingredients.

I like Witch Hazel, in fact when I was a teen I used to spend about a month every summer in Northern California with my aunt, uncle, and cousins. One day we went to a local water park and I got sunburnt. That evening my aunt generously covered my very sensitive bright red skin with pure witch hazel. I was amazed that the witch hazel was even more effective than aloe! So ever since then I’ve been a huge fan of witch hazel. I only wish that Trader Joe’s never stopped selling the pure witch hazel (face cleansing) wipes.

According to the label, “Our Serum contains botanically derived Hyaluronic Acid, along with a perfect blend of antioxidants Vitamin C + E + Green Tea. Holding up to a 1,000 times its weight in water. Hyaluronic Acid is a great natural moisturizer for the skin.” I’ve read that Hyaluronic Acid is a great moisturizer since it can hold soooo much water!
image
I have chronically dry skin ALL year round.  Even though it can hold so much water, it is still necessary to add a moisturizer to your skin after the serum dries. And Hyaluronic Acid is supposed to be a great anti-aging agent along with evening out and brightening your skin tone.

You can easily purchase InstaNatural’s Hyaluronic Acic Serum on Amazon by clicking HERE.

Do you have a skincare routine? If so I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!

Product Review: Le Beauté Pure Vitamin C Serum

Product Review: Le Beauté Pure Vitamin C Serum

Hi Lovelies!

I’m back with another Vitamin C Serum this time from Le Beauté Pure (click HERE to find on Amazon)! I’ve had the pleasure of trying several Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid serums of late. So as to invoke the memory of being told that Vitamin C is found in oranges, pictures of oranges are on the front of the bottle. Since there are images of orange slices on the front, I had hoped that this one would have the scent of oranges like the very first one I tried, but sadly, no hint of a scent of oranges. That said the scent is medicinal in nature and I’m guessing is from the Witch Hazel, which IS one of my favorite natural skincare ingredients.
image
This was the first bottle I received that came with a flat topped lid with the eye dropper packaged separately. While I haven’t had any issue of leaks with any of the other bottles, I like that I have a choice as to which lid I keep on the bottle.
image
The bottle states, ” This serum is a concentrated delivery system for the highest form of active, bio-available Vitamin C for beautiful skin. Suspended in a concentrated base of pure vegan hyaluronic acid to plump skin cells and protect and restore” While I”m not sure if I can tell (yet) whether if there are any changes, I look forward to continuing to use Le Beauté Pure Vitamin C Serum over the coming weeks/months.
image
I do however notice that my skin is often MUCH less red in morning before putting my makeup on than before I started using Vitamin C serums. That is a HUGE improvement in the skincare appearance department as it means I can wear lighter (sheerer) foundation which is a huge advantage as it looks much more natural and is more durable in the heat.

Have you tried any Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, and/or other anti-aging serums? Which ones have you tried or want to try? Is anti-aging ‘treatment’ or prevention a skin concern of yours? Please share in the comments below!
