IpsyOS Events Part 1: Intro & Dermalogica

IpsyOS Events Part 1: Intro & Dermalogica
image
Did you know that Michelle Phan (co-founder of the uber popular subscription service Ipsy which has well over 1.5 million monthly subscribers) opened up her dream studio for up and coming beauty content creators last year? And that those creators could use that space for free?!?

No, you hadn’t?

Well, guess what?!?

I applied to and was excepted into IpsyOS

When I opened that email and saw that it said, “Hello Beautiful, Congrats” I seriously full on squealed!! (you know, like out loud) I was amazed that they thought my little piece of the internet was worthy.

And since I was accepted I have had the honor of attending 3 #ThirstyThursday events, 1 #WorkoutWednesday event, 1 #Cocktail Party for GenBeauty LA, and was given a complimentary #BeautyGuru #VIP pass for #GenBeauty LA!!

So just after a month after I was accepted into IpsyOS I attended my first event AT IpsyOS in Santa Moncia! This event was sponsored by Dermalogica and featured their new #CharcoaltotheRescue Charcoal Masque.
image
We were able to learn about how to use the other featured products and how often to use each based on our individual skin types. There was wonderful catered food and plenty of champagne, well the event IS called a #ThirstyThursday! [SIDE NOTE: Because I strongly believe in safe driving, I. Will. Never. Drink. One, Sip. Of. Alcohol. When. Driving. NOT EVER!]
image
Dermalogica also had the incredibly talented @persianpainter at the event to create gorgeous charcoal drawings of us. I still need to get a frame so I can better display this near my vanity. I cannot remember ever having a portrait/caricature drawn of me where the artist spent that amount of detail!

Towards the end of the event we were each given a generous goodie bag that contained ALL of the products that were being featured! Included in each attendee bag from Dermalogica was their Pre-Cleanse, Special Cleansing Gel, Charcoal Rescue Masque, Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque, Skin Hydrating Masque and the cutest grey headband perfect for keeping my hair out of my face while washing my face for applying makeup!
image
I am so appreciative to Dermalogica for putting on such a fun evening. I was a bit nervous with this being my first event, but the majority of attendees and all of the IpsyOS and Dermalogica staff that I met were amazing!

Have you used Dermalogica? If so, what is your favorite product? And if not, what product would you want to try most?

All the best,
~Jaclyn~

Product Review: Barefaced Mud Mask

Product Review: Barefaced Mud Mask
image
Hi Lovelies!

I’m back with another product review, this time for a fabulous at home Dead Sea Mineral Mud Mask by Barefaced Skincare (click HERE to find on Amazon). I love facial masks! Since I don’t have the time (or money) to visit a spa I rely on at home treatments in order to get that refreshed soft skin. I’ve tried quite a few masks, including Dead Sea Mineral masks, but never a Mud Mask, until now.
image
image

This product is made with Dead Sea Minerals imported from Israel. I love purchasing products made in Israel. As a Jewish – American who has not yet had the opportunity to visit Israel, I feel that if given the option of purchasing a product made in Israel versus a product made anywhere else, I’ll choose the first as a small thing I can do to support Israel. That said, this product is not made in Israel, it is made in the U.S.A, BUT the Dead Sea Minerals ARE imported from Israel so that sorta counts in a secondary consumer type of way.
image
Dead Sea Minerals and Mud  have been long touted as being fantastic for ones skin so when I was given a chance to try a mask that contained both I immediately jumped at the chance! Barefaced Skincare has the absolutely cutest graphics on their product, website, and amazon page. I’m including several as I think they just perfectly explain this companies story and journey taken from start to finished product.
image
As per instructions on the jar, I applied the mask to clean facial and cervical skin gently massaging the purifying minerals making sure to avoid both my eye and lip areas. I then left it on for about 15 minutes at which time it had dried considerably. At which time I used warm water to carefully rinse all traces away and pat dry. The jar says that for best results to repeat use once a week.
image
image
I love that all the ingredients are actually ones that are easy to pronounce (although I’ve taken enough general and organic chemistry that I can pronounce most long chemical names) and on the simpler side.
image
The relatively short (especially for skincare) ingredient list is composed of the following: Dead Sea Mud, Organic Shea Butter, Hickory Bark Extract,  Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Aloe Vera Juice, Water, Organic Vegetable Glycerin, Organic Lavender Essential Oil, Organic Eucalyptus Essential Oil, Kaolin Clay, Non GMO Xanthan Gum, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Calendula Oil. I’m amazing that Water is not only not the first ingredient, but it is the sixth! When was the last time water wasn’t one of the first ingredients in any skin or hair care product?
image
This mask is formulated for all skin types from oily and acne prone skin to dry skin and for teen skin to mature skin and for both women and men! This is a one stop mud mask shop for the whole family. And each 6 oz jar contains enough mud for 30-40 uses!
image
If you are considering trying Barefaced Mud Mask also consider that IF you are not 100% satisfied with the product for ANY reason just contact Barefaced Skincare’s dedicated customer service team. If you want to learn more about Barefaced Skincare and/or have a question for their customer service team you can visit their website at www.barefacedskincare.com. And if you want to try Barefaced Mud Mask for yourself you can find it on Amazon (with free shipping on orders over $35 or with Prime) by clicking HERE.

Product Review: Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil

Product Review: Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil

image

Hi Lovelies!
I recently had the opportunity to try Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil (click HERE to find on Amazon)! I don’t know if you’ve heard of Tea Tree Oil, but I’ve been seeing it in all sorts of skincare products over the last year or so. The first time I encountered Tea Tree Oil was when I was at Trader Joes looking for Witch Hazel pads.

My aunt used to use Witch Hazel for soothing a sunburn when I was a teenager. For whatever reason pure Witch Hazel has become hard to find, so when I found Witch Hazel pads with Tea Tree oil I decided to give that a go. Those face pads did a great job removing makeup as well as exfoliating my skin. The only thing is that I learned that I don’t particularly love the smell of Tea Tree Oil.

image

Since then I’ve begun to see Tea Tree Oil in all sorts of skincare and even haircare products. So when I had the chance to try pure Tea Tree Oil I jumped at the chance. I was particularly interested that it could be used as an anti-dandruff agent. Unfortunately, I’ve had dandruff since kindergarten.

So I’m always interested in anything that is effective against it. I’m not sure if it is more effective than other over the counter shampoos, but I’ll see how it performs over the next few months. I’ve also heard it is great as a hair color protectant. In fact my sister has been told TO use Tea Tree Oil for just this purpose.

image

I’m impressed with not only the generously large 4 once bottle, but the quality as well. A little goes a very long way as it is quite concentrated. I imagine this bottle will last me at least 6 months to a year. If you are only using this for skincare and not haircare this bottle will easily last at least a year! Since I have thick hair, I always go through haircare products faster than most other people.

I, personally, think that the numerous possible use-ages for 100% pure Tea Tree Oil combined with the very generous sized 4 oz bottle makes this a fabulous deal (click HERE to find on Amazon)! Have you used Tea Tree Oil? If so, what are your favorite ways to utilize this versatile product?

image

There are literally endless ways to use Tea Tree Oil! It can be used in your hair to protect color treated hair from fading, or to prevent & treat dandruff, or to make facial masks, or even as an exfoliating agent! And if you need ideas, a free e-book of suggested uses plus helpful recipes is included! How would you or do you use Tea Tree Oil?

Product Reviews: Adovia Facial Lift & Firm Serum with Dead Sea Minerals & Vitamin C and Dead Sea Salt Soap

Product Reviews: Adovia Facial Lift & Firm Serum with Dead Sea Minerals & Vitamin C and Dead Sea Salt Soap

imageHi Lovelies!

I recently had the opportunity to try two more awesome products by Adovia Mineral Skin Care, Facial Lift & Firm Serum with Dead Sea Minerals (click HERE to find on Amazon) and Dead Sea Salt Soap (find on Amazon by clicking HERE). All Adovia products are made in Israel. Whenever possible, I prefer to purchase products made in Israel. Dead Sea Minerals are long believed to hold beneficial and/or healing properties. Salt (and sugar) scrubs are a fabulous way to exfoliate your skin without using harsh chemicals. Adovia’s Dead Sea Salt soap is using salt as a gentle and natural way to slough off dead skin cells revitalizing your skin.
image
I personally LOVE using sugar scrubs to exfoliate my lips prior to applying lipstick (especially matte lipsticks). I truly have enjoyed using this Dead Sea Salt Soap. I’m fairly picky when it comes to bars of soap that I’ll use on my body as I once had a doctor tell me that using Ivory was contributing to my itchy skin. He recommended that I ONLY use Dove which is milder and much more moisturizing. Amazingly this soap didn’t irritate my skin either.
image
I like to exfoliate before shaving (my legs) as I’ve heard it helps to achieve a closer shave. I also like the how soft and supple frequent exfoliating leaves my skin. So if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive exfoliating bar of soap then I highly recommend that you check out Adovia’s Dead Sea Salt Soap which you can easily find on Amazon by clicking HERE.
image
I also had the chance to try Adovia’s Facial Lift & Firm Serum with Dead Sea Minerals & Vitamin C. I love serums! Vitamin C is commonly thought to help aging skin when applied topically. In fact all the serums I’ve tried in recent months have contained a fair amount of Vitamin C.
image
I love the feel of this serum as I apply it. And the lovely glass bottle looks nice on my counter as well. I also really like that this serum has a pump dispenser as opposed to a dropper. I find that pump dispensers are a lot less messy although a dropper is helpful when the serum is very liquidy.
image
This serum is much thicker and creamier in consistency than the other serums I’ve tried. You may prefer a thinner consistency as it all just personal preference.
image
Positive effects from changes in skincare routine do not happen overnight. I’m not sure if I can tell if I’ve had any changes in the minimal amount of wrinkles/fine lines that I do have.
image
What I have noticed is that my skin is much less dry than what is usual for me. Typically I’m prone to very dry skin and will have dry patches if I don’t exfoliate before applying makeup.
image
Lately, I haven’t needed to scrub my face as carefully as my skin seems to be ‘naturally’ less dry. I do still apply some kind of moisturizer before applying foundation, but forgot a couple times and still had a flawless makeup application.
image
If you are looking for a creamy serum with anti-aging properties that promotes hydrated (not oily or greasy) skin, then you may want to check out Adovia’s Firm & Lift Serum with Dead Sea Minerals & Vitamin C which you can find on Amazon by clicking HERE.

Do you have a favorite bar soap or serum? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments below!

Product Review:  purSOL Konjac Facial Sponge with Bamboo  Fibers and Activated Charcoal

Product Review: Konjac Facial Sponge with Bamboo Fibers and Activated Charcoal
image
Hi Lovelies!

What do you use to wash your face? Do you use a wash cloth, exfoliating mitt, sponge, your hands? And do you use any sort of cleanser or just water?

I typically use an exfoliating mitt that I got about two years ago that can be used to remove makeup either in conjunction with any cleanser or with plain tap water. While I have tried the latter, I usually did the former and use cleanser. Well, my face washing routine got a bit of a shakeup when I had the opportunity to try Konjac Facial Sponge (click HERE to find on Amazon) which like my mitt can be used with or without cleanser!

This nifty little sponge made with only TWO ingredients, konjac root fiber and bamboo charcoal and cleverly comes with a little suction hook so as to be able to easily hang it up to air dry in between uses with the sponge itself having a string running through it giving it something to hang from. As it dries the sponge shrinks back down close to the compact state it originally came in. The first time I used it, it took the longest for the sponge to fully fluff up as it began to retain water.
image
I really like the texture of this sponge as it fluffs up with water. While it can remove makeup with water alone, I prefer to use a face wash in conjunction. Because I have chronically dry skin, I find that I must exfoliate every time before I can apply makeup. I find that I can use my more ‘gentle’ face wash with this facial sponge and still receive an excellent deep clean.

Apparently in Japanese beauty routines, konjac root has been used for well over a thousand years as a great way to exfoiliate delicate and sensitive skin. Boscia sells a Konjac Cleansing Sponge on Sephora.com for $18 (which is almost double the price, yet still must be replaced every 2-3 months) and that version doesn’t contain all natural bamboo charcoal.
image
Konjac Facial Sponge can be used for about 2-3 months before needing to be replaced. I love that once I’m done using this sponge that it is 100% biodegradable! At only $10, Konjac Facial Sponge costs about $3.33 to $5 per month making this semi-disposable sponge quite affordable.
image
If you are looking for an affordable, yet still high quality product to complement your face washing routine, you should definitely consider trying purSOL Konjac Facial Sponge which can conviently be purcahsed on Amazon by clicking HERE.

What/ If anything face washing routine do you follow? Please share in the comments!
