Wrap Up: Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-Thon

I had great fun participating in my first read-a-thon. I actually read one and a half books in two days! :-) Both were ebooks I had received through NetGalley. I read a total well over 640 pages during this event. I’m not mentioning the titles at the moment while I decide whether to publish reviews for one or both of them. A big thank you to April at My Shelf Confessions, Bex at Kindle Fever, and all the mini challenges hosts for a great read-a-thon!

Mini Challenges: Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-Thon

I participated in my first mini challenge last night at A Book and A Latte where I had to answer the question of what is my favorite Horror/Thriller movie made from a book. Here is what I wrote: “I don’t like horror books or movies, so glad thrillers are an option as well. My favorite has to be the Robert Redford  film Three Days of the Condor. I did like the Bourne movies, preferred Angels & Demons (movie) to The Da Vinci Code (movie) but liked the books reversely.”

Today is the last day of the Read-a-Thon and I’m partaking in The Book Monsters‘ mini challenge of Read in Pictures where you use pictures to describe different things in the book or the title. This is the first time I’ve ever done something like this. Below are four pictures that make up the titles of two books that I’m reading during this weekend. Can you guess what books I’m reading? Please leave a comment with your guess! Who will be the first one to guess correctly?

I’m a bit late to the party as this started yesterday and ends tomorrow evening. Bex at Kindle Fever and April at My Shelf Confessions are the ones hosting this reading fest. Anyone who has access to facebook or twitter can participate (no blog required) and their be prizes for participating and challenges along the way! While this is a Halloween themed Read-a-Thon there is no restriction to only Halloween/spooky/creepy books There is even a hashtag on twitter just for this event! #WWReadathon

If you decide to also participate the linky list closes in just over an hour and a half from now. Also please leave a comment with what you’re reading! Hope everyone is having a great weekend and Happy Reading!

I got my Welcome letter to…Pottermore!!!

Ever since I first heard about Pottermore two days before Magical Quill hunt began I have been wanting to get a look inside those virtually magical doors! I stayed up for a couple of hours after my ‘normal’ bedtime waiting around with one of my closest friends who is essentially my cousin (just because we are not biologically related, doesn’t mean we are not family, her brother, mother, and father are also part of my family and I think of them as my cousin, aunt, and uncle respectively) as she is also very much into the “Wizarding World of Harry Potter”. Neither of us were able to get in on day 1.

But we had 6 days and 6 more chances to try to find the “magical quill” which could unlock the key to becoming a beta tester. So as day 2 begins we both agree that if either of us sees the question (which could only be seen when it is ‘live’) that we’d text or call the other person. Well, she texted me saying that she heard it was live and I happened to see her text and quickly jumped on my laptop and scrambled over to the Pottermore website.
